Keep Safe and Healthy
Amid all the uncertainty and the grim state of affairs across the globe, I have found myself reflecting quite a lot. It is now 4 days since my family and I made the decision to stay home. We are all so used to the hustle and bustle of school and work, and the weekend sports run and birthday parties, that just being together at home right now and being restricted as a family, has made me realise how much stress we add to our normal everyday lives.
Since the beginning of the week, our routine has changed significantly. We all wake up and do morning chores, the kids jump online and start their schoolwork, my wife and I also get online and begin work. In between, we cook meals, clean, walk the dog and shop for what we can. Compared to just a week ago where we were waking up, getting breakfast, squeezing in some exercise, packing lunches, getting ready for school and work, dropping kids off and getting into the office to begin another hectic day.
Last year alone, I was out of Sydney and away from my family, flying from country to country on business, for 191 days. This took a significant toll on my health and my loved ones. Over the last 4 days, I have noticed some profound changes… I am more active, less stressed, more emotionally available and ultimately more productive than I can ever remember being.
With this new restricted lifestyle, we are all beginning to learn a ‘new normal’. We’re still working and having meetings (online), but without the stress of travel, traffic or running late to the office.
So, my message is this… it is now time for all of us to reflect, realign and reconnect in this new way, to understand our collective situation, and decide how we build our future.
We at Stickman have been working on promoting a safe way forward for both our staff and clients and have created new logos to reflect this approach, and to encourage each and every one of you to look towards a brighter future.
